Our very own Senior Citizen

Our lovable Buddy boy is going to be 9 in October. He is definitely getting up there in age, it makes me sad to think about the life expectancy for his breed. We have had him since he was a tiny puppy, and he is such a good dog.
Well, over the last year he has started having seizures. This past week he had one really severe, and was paralyzed for a good 20 minutes. We decided to take him to the vet and expected the worst.
She said we could do an MRI, and lab work. Ummm no thanks on the MRI. Too expensive. We opted not to do the lab work either.
I asked her about his quality of life and if the seizures were causing him pain. After watching him for a few hours and evaluating him, she said that he seems to be a very happy boy and that he came out of the seizure without lasting effects so his quality of life at this point is unaffected.
She told us that most likely due to his age the seizures could be from 4 things: a tumor and brain inflammation, his liver, or his blood sugar.
Dan and I felt like at this point it wouldn't do us any good to know the exact cause, but that we could just treat his symptoms as long as he isn't suffering. We are going to start him on an anti seizure medication.
I mentioned to the vet about his life expectancy, and she was funny she said, "Well… yes he is definitely a senior citizen!"

6 weeks old!

I can't believe how fast the time flies. Cam is now 6 weeks old! He is starting to "talk" and babble more . He smiles in his sleep- I can't wait til he does it in response to us! He is definitely filling out- we can't get enough of his chipmunk cheeks and neither can anyone else!
He is so so strong! He is also able to grasp and hold on to things pretty well now!
Thanks to the zantac and just getting bigger, the reflux and subsequently his gas and colic are improving. Can I get a hallelujah!!
Don't you love his awesome mohawk?

Holding his pacifier!!

He loves playing in his piano gym, and really gets excited and makes good "o's" whenever he touches and moves a toy!

Cocoa continues to have struggles. It wasn't funny at the time because formula is EXPENSIVE- but she ate some and I bet you can't tell how we knew. You can really see the shame in that face. Not to mention, she was hiding behind the recliner- she knows she is naughty!

The pets have all really adjusted well to Cameron. We tell them that he is their baby- and the dogs just love him. They kiss him, and lay by him. Cocoa for 2 days now thinks she must bathe him while he sleeps- he gets so mad and wakes up screaming and protesting at her.

Doggie Trauma, Cameron's Quilt, Shower!

Yesterday, Dan took me out to dinner and when we got home, the dogs were suspiciously quiet. We didn't think anything of it and let them outside. We looked in the office, and sure enough, the dog food was pulled out, and they had been eating it right out of the bag. We let them in, and I noticed bloody paw prints all over the house! I told Dan- one of the dogs is hurt! I wonder if they stepped on something outside!
On further inspection, Cocoa and Buddy were both hurt. They both had scratched up bloody noses, and Cocoa's foot was torn wide open. She should have had stitches, but it had been too long so I did some major wound care and cleaning with Dan's help and bandaged her up.
The only thing we can conclude is that her and Buddy must have gotten into a brawl right before we got home over the dog food in the office!! It's always when you are gone that the naughtiness comes out!!
I know she is in pain, she won't walk on her foot at all, and pants really hard. I called the vet. I am keeping her foot clean, watching for infection, and luckily she can have tylenol without having to take her in!

I decided to get crafty and make my first quilt by myself. I have tied multiple quilts before, but never pieced one together, and never finished one. I found this way cute pirate ship and pirate theme material in a shop in Gardner Village and I made Cameron a crib sized quilt. It isn't perfect, the edging was kind of hard but I am pretty proud of it!!

Then today, my best friend Sheri threw me a baby shower. It was really nice. I had a few friends is all but it was so nice to visit and get some items for Cameron. My camera battery was dead, so unfortunately no pictures. I appreciate all my friends taking time to shower me and baby boy with love!
