Preschool!

Cameron is a kid of routine- he NEEDS it. He NEEDS to know what's coming. He likes to know what time things are, and in what order. For example- every Sunday, he wants to know how the day is going to go. This is what I tell him:
  • Go to church
  • Sacrament meeting first- Quiet time until the bread and water are passed, then he can read books or do his lace cards or magnets quietly. We do talks, song, prayer, then go to nursery! Mom and Dad always come back.
  • Come home, eat a light lunch
  • Go visit Grandma and Grandpa and eat dinner with them
  • Bedtime
He asks all the time- What time is it? and wants to know the actual time- and what we should be doing- It's 12:00, lunch time! Then nap time.

I knew right away that having a baby in our family would be great ad exciting, and I know he will be a big helper and love the baby, but he will also be jealous, and it is going to rock his world. Being that I am due in August- Dan and I decided it would be too stressful to bombard him with lots of big changes all around the same time in August.

I found that he can go to our public elementary's preschool early- so he started class on Feb 2! He will have a summer break, but school won't be a brand new thing for him come fall.

He loves school- He has told me a couple times when I pick him up that he isn't ready to go yet! We are so proud of this boy- and we will try to always foster a love for school and learning!

Cameron turns 2!

What a big boy we have. It's crazy! Today he had his well check and at the end of january he had his early intervention evaluation! He is definitely doing really good!

  • Tummy issues are under control!
  • He sleeps! Not great, but when he wakes up, he entertains himself til he falls back asleep now. No more screaming!
  • He is socially advanced- rating at 30 months with social skills
  • Speech is behind- rating at 17 months, but it is improving! He says about 14 words: Dad, Mom, Yuck, Oh, Whoa, Apple, Cow, Car, Yes, Yeah, This, Baby, Hi, Bye and has 13 signs: Milk, Drink, Eat, Hungry, Play, Please, Thank you, more, done, help, cookie, cracker, tired.
  • His fine motor and receptive language are right on target, as well as his gross motor skills.
  • He weighs 29 lbs which is the 62nd percentile

I just feel so incredibly blessed. It is the hardest thing to parent- but it is also so wonderful.
For Cam's birthday, he and I made cupcakes, played toys, went and got a haircut and some balloons, then had friends over for a birthday party! Dan took us out to dinner at noodles- he loves the stroganoff there- and then we got frappacino's at starbucks.
It was a fun and busy day!!

 He definitely loved his balloons.

I would say he is a pretty good combo of Dan and I, but here he really looks like Dan to me!

Cam had two friends come celebrate! Braelynn and Gavin!

He really looks up to Jaxson- he loves him! They were the last to leave so these two boys had a riot playing with the balloons together.

Happy Birthday big boy!!!

Very First Hair Cut

I cried! I can't believe how much cutting his hair made him grow! He is officially a kid now, a toddler, no more baby!

I took him to this place called cookie cutters- they do all little kids. It is really cute, he got to choose where to sit, a fire truck, police car, or airplane. Airplane was it. He drove the airplane and watched cartoons. He did so great- I was worried for nothing- he didn't get upset until the very end when I held his head so she could trim around his ears. And then, he was only upset about that because he was being held down.

I took my big boy to get some chickens and french fries after his hair cut!!

Cam is growing!!

Cam had his 15 month check up this past week. He has really shot up in length!!
At 15 months, Cam:
 - is 33.07 inches long: 94% percentile! He is 2 inches taller than average!
 - weighs 24.03 pounds: 42% percentile! All his busy energy has slimmed him down
 - loves playing peek a boo. He hides his face until you say, "Where is Cameron?"
 - has started climbing up on stuff- I am not excited. Child proofing for a crawler was nothing, the    efforts we make to keep him safe now are a lot more inconvenient.
 - has really started throwing real tantrums when he doesn't get what he wants- we just ignore him or distract him.
 - has said some words, but very inconsistently. The pediatrician isn't worried and told me not to be because he is on track with other communication cues.

We played at the park with Jaxson today and Cameron had lots of fun exploring! He looks like such a big boy now!

He is so funny! Everytime he goes down a slide, he won't sit at the top, he lays down to go!

Cute cousins!! They really love each other!!

Busy Busy Bees

We have had alot going on! Mostly good, some sad, some bad. Bad is over, and I'm not going to give it any time here, and sad has already been visited!

So on with the good- Cameron is making serious strides of improvement since we started his bowel program and took away dairy. I have slowly reintroduced 1-2 servings of dairy a day- but no more than that. He loves the almond milk, so that has worked out alright! He is now regular thankfully and the medicine to relax his digestive system is working amazing. He isn't having any reflux problems since we got the regimen on track. YAY! So guess what this means?! He is starting to sleep!!!! He is sleeping 5-7 hour stretches!! He has been going down between 8-9, sleeping until 2-4 then here is the hang up- he thinks it's okay to stay awake for 2 hours!! But finally goes back down for another 3-4 hours. It has been LOVELY to get some blocks of sleep. 15 months of no sleep is a killer.
While he is up, I just hold him in the dark. No talking, no playing. Sometimes he fights and screams or babbles… but I want him to learn that night time isn't for fun.

We have been busy with yard projects: we bought 4 TONS of gravel for our park strip and next to our driveway. We are still putting it into place but it is coming along nicely!

We are also building raised beds around 2 edges of our yard and building trellises so I can do vertical gardening and hopefully get a better crop- vertical to avoid the voles/gophers and raised with metal mesh in the bottom to protect my root vegetables! I am really excited about this and I am hoping to have a really good garden this year! Because of this project, my garden is going in 2 weeks late- I am sad about that but I hope that doesn't limit my harvest too much!

We play lots outside- and right now Cameron is getting into a challenging phase where he throws some nasty tantrums and gets into lots of trouble- all super normal, but challenging and busy nontheless. Here are some of our fun goings on!

He likes to eat the dirt from my flower pots. Gross. But he thinks it's great. Dirt and Cat food. Two of his favorites!!

Right after he swept the driveway and ate some dirt for snack, he took it upon himself to give the sprinkler a try. He was upset about having his clothes wet, but once I stripped him down, there was no stopping him. Most kids run away from the sprinkles, Cameron ran right for them!

You can never have too many Nutter Butter's in your mouth...

BWAHAHAHA- He blows raspberries on my window

Oh! I forgot to mention toilet paper on the roll- yes, he eats that too…..
