The Stats are in....

Cam saw Dr. Zarbock, his pediatrician today! This boy is a growin' like a weed!!
Last week, I was going through all the baby stuff and clothes he has. He is now wearing 12-24 month clothes!! Mostly 18 months, but he has a couple 12 months things he still wears, and a few 24 month things he wears. Babies grow so fast. Parents forget so fast. When we brought him home from the NICU, he could barely wear preemie stuff. He was only 5.9 lbs when we brought him home! Look at how he has grown:

Today Cam's measurements are:
Head Circumference: 17.8" in the 55th Percentile
Height: 28.8" in the 70th Percentile
Weight: 20.14 lbs in the 74th Percentile

He is so happy, and serious, and smart! Sleep continues to be a major issue. We are lucky to get 3 hours at a time. After 8 months of doing it all in the night, Dan and I worked out that I would do bedtime and throughout the night til 4:30am. Anytime after that, Dan gets up with Cam so that we both can have at least a 4 hour block of sleep straight.
Cameron's reflux also seems to be getting worse. He spits up EVERYTHING- with no rhyme or reason. I think that this is actually part of his sleeping problem. Of course we talked with Dr. Zarbock and this is the plan:
Because he is gaining weight and growing, there isn't much to do about his reflux except ride it out. Dr. Z said that his choking and spitting are actually good- it means he is protecting his airway.
With regards to sleep- the answer is back to crying it out. ARGH! This is a tough spot because Dan and  I don't agree.
The middle ground we have come to is crying it out- but gradually. I'm going to sleep in his room for a week or so to talk him through it, and pat his back, without removing him from his crib. Once he successfully sleeps through, I will get to go back to my bed.
Dan wanted to keep getting up with him, but it is too hard for us- and we are too grumpy, all three of us. So, who cares about my sleep... for a while I won't get hardly any while Dan snores away in the other room, and I sleep with Cameron. Hopefully it won't take more than a week or so!!
Wish us luck!!!!

The sleep thing....arrrggghhhh! Seriously the worst ever!! It took about 2-3 hours each night to get Xander to sleep and then he would wake up anywhere from 10-15 times each night screaming! It sucked big time!!! And this lasted until he was about 16 months old. The problem was we were in an apartment and felt like we couldn't let him cry it out. But once we moved into our townhouse, you bet we let him cry it out. It was hard for those few days but that's all it took...a few days. Within a week he was a normal sleeper and we finally found some relief. But Xander was older by that point, Cam is still under a year. But I'm with you, let him cry. He's a good size boy so he should not need a bottle during the night; he needs to learn to put himself to sleep and put himself back to sleep when he wakes up. Good luck and know that I totally empathize with what you guys are going through.
